The Barney Allis Plaza Redevelopment Project represents a significant initiative by the City of Kansas City, in collaboration with leading industry partners such as McCownGordon Construction, HOK, and other influential stakeholders. The goal of this ambitious project is to transform the current Barney Allis Plaza into a vibrant and multifunctional urban space that not only acts as a central community gathering point but also embodies the innovative and progressive spirit of Kansas City.

This comprehensive redevelopment involves the complete demolition of the existing Auditorium Parking Garage and the current Barney Allis Plaza. In addition to these demolitions, the project includes the construction of a new plaza and associated structures, as well as enhancements to the surrounding area to improve connectivity and aesthetics. The redevelopment spans approximately five acres and is situated within a dynamic city environment, bordered by key city streets.

SVS has played a critical role in this redevelopment by providing detailed and accurate cost-estimate services throughout the project’s lifecycle to date. Our involvement began with the preparation of a Demolition Bid Package, which outlined the costs associated with the initial demolition phase. Subsequently, we delivered detailed cost estimates at multiple stages of design and documentation, including the 100% Design Development phase, the 50% Construction Documents phase, and the 100% Construction Documents phase. These estimates were meticulously crafted to serve as independent benchmarks, offering real-time comparisons to validate the Construction Manager’s estimates and ensuring financial accuracy and project feasibility.

This thorough approach not only supports the financial management of the project but also contributes to the overall success of the redevelopment, helping to ensure that the revitalized plaza meets both community needs and the high standards set by the City of Kansas City and its partners.
